Ministry Plans

In our first term, we plan to work with an established indigenous church. We have been told that it will take 5 years to be conversational in Czech, so we will not be planting a new church until I am able to preach in Czech, which will likely be in the second term. Czech is rated as the fifth most difficult language for an English-speaking person to learn, and we are told by veteran missionaries it will take at least five years to be functional in the language. We are praying about working with a church started by missionary John Reaves in Brno which is an international church and so holds services in both English and Czech. This would be a blessing to be able to minister right away while learning the language and culture.

In the long term it is our plan to plant Baptist churches with Czech pastors. The work that we have been called to do is not to pastor a church in the Czech Republic but to start churches and then train men to run them without our help. The best day that we will have is when we will get to turn a church over to faithful men who will train others to do likewise (2 Timothy 2:2).
