October 2024 Prayer Letter

Deputation

We had a few truck issues in October. We needed to get the front brakes/rotors replaced and found that part of the suspension had been damaged. In addition, we had multiple check engine warnings. All of them had to do with the DEF system and the truck started putting us into limp mode. Thankfully, we were at our home church and were able to get the DEF system deleted while there before heading out on the road again. After leaving TX, we were in NM, AZ, CO, and UT in eight churches. In August we had damaged the bed and tailgate. The tailgate actually worked better than before and so we planned on just leaving it, but then the tailgate stopped opening. A church in Olathe, CO bought us a new tailgate! Thank you to Bible Baptist Church.

Family

We appreciate all of the prayers for Steele. Unfortunately, in October the medication that had been working for him, allowing him to eat, stopped working. He is still doing ok, and was able to start his gastrointestinal physical therapy, which is supposed to be able to provide him long-term relief. We are praying that he will continue to improve and learn how to manage his health on his own.

In addition, Lisa had been feeling poor and having pain around her heart. She had pericarditis before and knew that she was at a high risk for getting it again. After waiting for a little while to see if it would go away, she finally went in to get looked at and got the steroids to treat it. Though she has finished the steroids, the recovery time for pericarditis is 6-9 months. Please pray for her recovery.

In good family news, Makayla turned 15 in October and was able to have a party with her friends at home. Then her mean parents made her wait to open the rest of her presents until her actual birthday. While we were in Phoenix, we were able to spend some time with Lisa’s aunt and Nathan’s dad. Then, when we went to western Colorado, we met up with Steele at an amusement park for a day and Lisa and Makayla went back with him to northern Colorado. As of this writing, they are still there with Lisa’s parents and Nathan is left to fend for himself. Pray for me as I do not have anyone to tell me how bad my ideas are and may actually act on them! We will meet up again on Monday November 4th as we head back to TX to vote.

House

The renters did move in, but have been what we were worried about. Our relator was acting as a property manager for free to help us out, but had to bow out because he was worried that they may try to make a complaint against him. We have needed to get a handy man to come to the house and fix some things in the house. Some of the “problems” were things that we had lived with in the house, but apparently there are new issues that we did not know about that have come up. Hopefully, we can get things fixed up and then the house will sell better when we can get it on the market next year.
