November 2024

Deputation

November may have had up putting on the most miles of any month of deputation. We were in churches in Colorado, Utah, Texas, Alabama, Missouri, Kentucky, and Ohio. With all of these miles we also had weather and equipment issues. However, God was faithful and we were blessed. We got out of Colorado just hours before the road was closed for days and we were able to get to TX in time to vote. When we got to our home, we found that a leaf spring on the trailer broke and had to leave the trailer behind to go to a missions conference in Clarendon, TX. However, we were blessed once again to have this happen as we were coming to our home church where we were able to get the work done on it. Now we are in Ohio where the highs are below freezing, but we had a pastor surround the camper with hay bails and so we have been able to keep the water on to the camper. I know that people sometimes think that missionaries are just on a long vacation as we travel the country, but constantly moving and all of the problems associated with that and trying to keep school going for kids is real work and tiring.

We have contacted an immigration lawyer and are starting to put the documents together. Soon we will be putting together the budget for our move to the Czech Republic. We are looking at moving at the end of August 2025.

Family

I know that November is a time for the family to get together, and we did, while being apart. Lisa and Makayla were able to spend a couple of weeks with Steele and Lisa’s parents at the beginning of the month. Then Nathan went back to Colorado, leaving Lisa and Makayla in Ohio, to help Steele put together the parts for his new computer that we got him for Christmas. This was the only hole in our schedule until April to be able to do this and so we took the chance that we had. Nathan then flew back on Thanksgiving day. Next, Steele is flying to meet us out east and we will be visiting colleges for Steele to look at. He is not called into the ministry, and we are looking at colleges for him that we hopefully can trust to not just be saturated with the world.

Thank you for the prayers for both Steele and Lisa. Both are doing fine. Steele was sick for a while in November, but is on the mend. Lisa is slowly healing. However, Lisa is looking to head back to Colorado in January. There is a worry that a leaky valve that she has had for a long time may have gotten worse and is the cause of her problems. Please be in prayer for this. As well, we have been fighting off some lingering sickness that we think that we are done with, then kicks back.

House

The situation with the renters has gotten better. Not only did they pay rent on-time, but they have stopped making a lot of complaints. We have a handy man who is taking care of some legitimate issues a the house. Thank you for praying for us about this. We had not wanted to rent specifically because it would be hard for us to deal with any bad renter situations, but so far, so good.

Prayer Requests

* Steele’s medical treatment

* Lisa’s recovery
