February 2025
Deputation
In February, we were in nine churches in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. The Lord blessed and we gained 10 new partners to bring the Gospel to the Czech Republic. This brings our total support to 76%, with an additional 8% promised.
Family
Due to illness, Steele missed his ACT date and rescheduled it for April. He will still take the SATs on March 8th. Lisa was back in Texas for most of February because of her medical appointments. Then, while there, we decided to go ahead and get a test done that we had decided not to do before, but then decided that we should probably take care of as much as possible while still in the States, with a healthcare system that we know. That meant that she needed to stay an extra week, but then she found out that her first test needed to be redone and her new test was canceled because the doctor was in the hospital. They are both rescheduled for April. So, the trip was medically a waste. However, she was able to see our daughter and granddaughter, be there for our granddaughter’s birthday and oral surgery, and head to Colorado for a weekend and see her parents and Steele. So, the trip was not a total waste.
In February, they moved Nathan's father into a memory care facility. Nathan’s sister is the executor of his estate, so most of the work has fallen on her. We had been praying for when Nathan could go back and see him again, and we hoped to have a chance to witness him. We planned to go over Easter to see him since that was the closest we would be and was free on our schedule. However, Nathan’s sister’s husband is having surgery and will be in recovery for the next trip that she had been planning. So, Nathan is now heading to take his father to his doctor's appointments and will be there March 11-15. Please pray that he will have mental clarity and be able to respond.
Collins
Friends of ours, Justin and Sara Collins, have asked for prayer for their son Azariah. He was born with a cleft palate and has gone through many rounds of surgery to correct it. He currently has a hole in his palate, which requires coverage before the final surgery to fix everything. They'll cut off some of his cheek skin to cover the gap. The skin needs to remain alive, meaning it must stay attached to the cheek. The doctors say there is a 60% chance that the surgery will succeed. Then, he will have his jaw wired shut for three weeks, start on a feeding tube, and then be on a liquid diet. We ask for prayer for a successful surgery and strength and patience for the recovery. If the surgery is unsuccessful this time, it must be redone. The surgery is on March 24th.
